La Frakenmühle aveva la sua ubicazione presso la Schwalm nel comune di Frankenmühle, nel comune di Schwalmtal nel distretto di Viersen. Sopra si trova la Mühlrather Mühle, sotto la Borner Mühle. Il livello dell'acqua della Schwalm si trova a 43 m sopra il livello del mare.
La Frakenmühle era un mulino ad olio che ha dato il nome al comune di Frankenmühle. Il nome è stato registrato già nel 13° secolo come nome di Hondschaft. Nella mappa di Tranchot del 1806 è anche menzionato. Si sa alcune cose sul nome, ma poche sulla mola, a parte alcuni ritrovamenti archeologici. I ritrovamenti sono stati effettuati durante la regolazione della Schwalm. Sono stati scoperti a circa un metro di profondità circa 30 pali di quercia, bruciati in cima. Tra i pali c'erano frammenti di ceramica dell'11° - 14° secolo e resti di macine.
