L'area naturale protetta Nieder Heide am Egelsberg ha una superficie di circa 4,6 ettari ed è situata nella zona sud-occidentale della città di Moers. Comprende un bosco umido di betulle e querce e confina a sud con la più grande area naturale protetta di Krefeld Egelsberg. Insieme, le due aree protette fanno parte quasi completamente dell'area di conservazione FFH DE-4605-302 Egelsberg, il che significa che la zona appartiene alla rete europea di aree protette Natura 2000.
