La pesante batteria antiaerea del porto di Varel si trovava sul molo marittimo di Varel, circa 600 metri a nord della chiusa di Varel. Era composta da quattro bunkers di artiglieria e una postazione di comando centralmente situata, oltre a un bunker per macchine. A sud dell'impianto si trovava una fortificazione costruita nel 1914/15.
