Il percorso per escursionisti "Ratingen Pur" collega le numerose attrazioni storiche del centro di Ratingen e della sua periferia con le vaste aree forestali protette "Überangermark/Hinkesforst" e "Oberbusch", le più grandi foreste contigue nel comune di Mettmann.
Il sentiero circolare lungo 15,9 km stabilisce il collegamento con l'8° tappa del neanderland STEIG nel bosco di Tiefenbroich e circonda il quartiere di Tiefenbroich. Attraverso foreste incontaminate, il percorso conduce al centro di Ratingen, dove attorno alla piazza del mercato una serie di rustiche osterie, ristoranti e caffè invitano a una sosta.
Lungo piccoli corsi d'acqua e laghi, ai camminatori si presentano una serie di attrazioni culturali e storiche significative come ad esempio il Poensgenpark, la fabbrica di tessuti Cromford o il castello d'acqua Haus zum Haus, per scoprire di più sulla variegata storia del neanderland.
