Alaquàs è un comune spagnolo di 30.177 abitanti situato nella comunità autonoma Valenciana. Dal 2004 è gemellato con la città italiana di Cremona, situata nella regione Lombardia.
Il toponimo Alaquàs proviene dell'arabo الأقواس «gli archi» o «le arcate». Non si sa per certo a quali archi faccia riferimento il toponimo, anche se si è speculato per lungo tempo sugli archi del canale d'irrigazione che porta l'acqua da Manises o su un ponte costruito sul Barranco de Torrent. Una terza possibilità, meno verosimile, fa riferimento alle arcate dell'antico castello musulmano. Dalla riconquista cristiana e fino all'Età Moderna, il toponimo viene citato molto frequentemente come Alaquaz.
