Lannemezan è un comune nel dipartimento delle Hautes-Pyrénées e nella regione dell'Occitanie nel sud-ovest della Francia. Gli abitanti sono chiamati Lannemezanais. Negli ultimi 50 milioni di anni, spinti da movimenti di compressione, il basso rilievo che costituisce i Pre-Pirenei è emerso. I ghiacciai e i torrenti che scorrono lungo le sue pendici sono soggetti all'erosione montana che scorre dal suo piede. Continuando a salire, la montagna ha eretto il gruppo dei suoi depositi e forma così il Plateau de Lannemezan, testa di un gigantesco piémont che lascia il suo segno su gran parte del sud-ovest, fino alla Garonna a oltre 100 chilometri a nord. In alto e esposto ai quattro venti, il sito già si attribuisce un'identità che assisterebbe nella sua storia e reputazione.
