Sulla strada per Santiago de Compostela, era frequentata dai pellegrini diretti alla commenda di Bessaut, senza dubbio attratti dalle varie virtù della sorgente.
Molte sorgenti possono curare vari disturbi, e a volte era necessario chiedere il consiglio di un "recommandayre" per trovare la sorgente giusta. Questo esperto di fontane usava un rituale magico per decidere quale fosse la fontana miracolosa più appropriata: accendeva tre candele con il nome di una fontana, e la prima che si spegneva indicava quella da raggiungere!
