Costruita nel XVII secolo, è stata ristrutturata nel XIX secolo sul sito di un antico edificio del XII secolo, una chiesa romanica. Il portico romanico, ricostruito e installato all'ingresso del presbiterio, rimane ancora oggi
Nel XVII secolo, i monaci decisero di costruire una nuova chiesa. I lavori iniziarono nel 1681 e durarono 15 anni.
La chiesa fu bruciata durante la guerra di Vandea, come il resto della città.
Le porte originali all'interno della chiesa presentano tracce di effrazioni durante l'inventario effettuato con la forza nel 1906, all'epoca della separazione tra Stato e Chiesa.
