Il castello di Bamburgh è situato sulla costa presso Bamburgh, nel Northumberland, Inghilterra.
Il castello è un listed building di I Grado.
Edificato su un affioramento di basalto, il sito ospitava in precedenza una fortificazione di Bretoni autoctoni nota come Din Guarie, che potrebbe essere stata la capitale del regno bretone della regione dalla fondazione del regno fino al 547, l'anno del primo riferimento scritto al castello.
In quell'anno la cittadella fu catturata dal sovrano anglosassone Ida di Bernicia , divenendo la capitale del Regno di Bernicia.
Per breve tempo dai Bretoni fu riconquistato al figlio di Ida, Hussa, nel corso della guerra del 590; più tardi, nel corso dello stesso anno, fu nuovamente preso dagli Anglosassoni.
