La BBC ha elencato la strada per il Passo Gothan come una delle 7 strade più rischiose al mondo. Citano Witold Chrab, un ingegnere con sede a Washington DC che ha attraversato in moto il passo nel 2011: "Ogni stagione, le squadre stradali usano il GPS per trovare la strada e dissotterrarla di nuovo". Un tunnel di 8 km è in fase di costruzione sotto il passo per fornire un'opzione più sicura, ma il percorso originale, che collega le valli di Kulu, Lahual e Spiti nel nord dell'India, attrae i visitatori con vedute di catene montuose impervie, valli vaste e persino un ibex o due.
