Il suolo verolese è costituito dai depositi alluvionali del periodo Olocene, datato quindi a partire da 20.000 anni fa e non ancora conclusosi. Questi depositi formarono strati consistenti dello spessore complessivo di oltre 150 metri che poggiano su una coltre più antica, databile ad oltre 2.000.000 di anni fa , generalmente impermeabile.
La pianura verolese, pertanto, come del resto quella dei paesi vicini e della bassa bresciana in genere, è il risultato dell'opera millenaria dovuta al trasporto, al riempimento del mare preesistente ed alla sedimentazione dei materiali portati dai fiumi Oglio, Stronee Mella . Questo lentissimo lavoro iniziato nell'era Quaternaria, subì una intensificazione soprattutto dopo le glaciazioni e durò più di 3 milioni di anni.
