Saponara è un comune italiano di 3 666 abitanti della città metropolitana di Messina in Sicilia.
Saponara prende il nome dalla pianta di Saponaria officinalis, un tempo molto diffusa nel territorio saponarese in grado di produrre schiuma a base detergente. Si sviluppa anche sulle pendici del versante settentrionale dei Monti Peloritani, alla confluenza del torrente Cardà con il torrente Perarella, i quali formano il torrente di "Saponara".
