Il villaggio di Langeaar è dominato dalla Chiesa Cattolica Romana di San Adriano (1902). Langeaar si trovava in passato dove ora si trova Ter Aar, ma fu spazzato via a gennaio 1788 a causa di una rottura dell'argine presso il Braassemermeer. Il villaggio fu ricostruito nel luogo attuale. Successivamente, nel sito del vecchio Langeaar è stato costruito di nuovo un villaggio che ha preso il nome di Ter Aar.
