Lo Studio 54 è stata una nota discoteca di New York situata al numero 254 della 54ª strada ovest a Manhattan, tra la 7th e l'8th Avenue, aperta tra il 1977 ed il 1986.
Inaugurato nel 1927 come teatro con la denominazione Gallo Opera House, dal 1942 al 1976 l'edificio funse da studio radio-televisivo dell'emittente CBS . Nel 1977, i giovani imprenditori newyorkesi Steve Rubell e Ian Schrager, già proprietari di due discoteche a Boston e nel Queens, decisero di acquistarlo al prezzo di 400 000 dollari. I lavori di ristrutturazione durarono sei settimane, al termine delle quali vennero conservati molti dei precedenti set televisivi e teatrali. Il nome venne quindi preso dalla strada in cui era ubicato .
