In groot-Bierbeek is geen enkel bouwwerk meer herkenbaar dan de watertoren. Hij staat dan ook op een hoogte van 103,6 meter, bijna het hoogste punt van de gemeente. In 1993 werd hij grondig gerenoveerd en werd de typische mondiale schildering er op aangebracht. Enkele jaren later werd hij gebruikt in het nieuwe logo van onze gemeente, waarbij het gemeentebestuur zijn bekommernis voor een duurzame en solidaire wereld wil uitstralen.
