Uit de cijfers van Statbel (2024) blijken de hoogste inkomens van België niet in Sint-Martens-Latem of De Pinte te liggen, maar wel in deze Waalse gemeente met amper 6.000 inwoners. En dat heeft alles met de locatie te maken, namelijk de nabijheid van het Groothertogdom Luxemburg. Heel veel inwoners in de grensstreek gaan werken in Luxemburg en verdienen daar substantieel meer. Ze betalen er ook minder belastingen.
