Moresnet is een dorp in de Belgische provincie Luik en een deelgemeente van Blieberg. In het dorp wordt naast het Frans als officiële taal, Platdiets gesproken, een Limburgs dialect.
Tot de opheffing van het hertogdom Limburg hoorde Moresnet tot de Limburgse hoogbank Montzen. Net als de rest van het hertogdom werd Moresnet bij de annexatie van de Zuidelijke Nederlanden door de Franse Republiek in 1795 opgenomen in het toen gevormde departement Ourthe.
