In DeKetting van de Randkrant vertelt hij het volgende over zijn woonplaats: "In Wemmel valt mij de deftigheid op, zoals de keurige tuintjes voor de huizen. En eigenlijk ook het behoorlijke percentage Franstaligen dat er woont. Maar Belgen zijn gezegend met hun meertalige kennis: Nederlands, Frans en vaak ook nog een aardig woordje Engels. Koester het, en blijf weg van de taalstrijd: dat is een boodschap die ik wil meegeven. Het uitstekende scholensysteem en dito ligging, in het hart van Europa, maken van de Belg de ideale burger van Europa."
