Vanop de straat zie je in de verte het Beursgebouw opduiken waar rijke industriëlen hun aandelen persoonlijk aan de man gingen brengen. De huizen die de straat aflijnen zijn statige appartementsblokken voor de rijkere bevolking die bij het prestige van het Beursgebouw horen. Wanneer je van de Beurs wegloopt kom je in Molenbeek dat in de 19de en 20ste eeuw het Manchester van het vasteland werd genoemd.
De Dansaertwijk is voor Brussel de Vlaamse buurt en men spreekt ook over de ’Dansaertvlamingen’. Ooit woonden hier de’ Hombres Complicados’ samen in het groot appartementsgebouw met het exotisch fresco op de bovenverdieping. De hombres zijn Marc Didden, Josse De Pauw, Arno Hintjens, Dominique Deruddere en Jan Decorte. Ook de rijke industriëlen die hun aandelen op de beurs gingen verkopen zijn uit de wijk verdwenen.
