Orbix Solutions is een pionier in het gigantisch reduceren van de CO2 uitstoot in de bouwindustrie. Wereldwijd is de cementindustrie verantwoordelijkheid voor 7% van de CO2 uitstoot. Hier maken ze bouwblokken op basis van metaalslakken (resten van metaalwinning uit ertsen). Daarbij wordt ook nog eens CO2 in de stenen opgeslagen. Per gewicht steen wordt zo een 10% CO2 permenent opgeslagen. En bij het maken van deze stenen wordt, on tegenstelling van klassiek cement, ook nog eens heel weinig CO2 geproduceerd. Er wordt een proces uit de natuur nagebootst, namelijk de productie van marmer. Het proces werd uitgewerkt door VITO.
