‘De Maagd’ is een kleine muurschildering van Michaël Borremans waarop een meisje in een zwarte jurk met een wit kraagje te zien is. Er komen priemende lichtstralen uit haar ogen komen. Als verwijzing naar het Gentse stadswapen ‘De Maagd van Gent’, houdt zij de stadshal in ’t oog.
Opmerkelijk is dat rechts van het portret enkele verfstrepen stonden. Borremans liet die daar bewust achter, net zoals hij zijn penselen zou uitwrijven naast een doek. Een stadswerker verwijderde deze verfstrepen per ongeluk toen hij de muur proper aan het maken was.
