Hop en bierproductie zijn onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden. Op deze plek was vroeger brouwerij Goossens. De brouwerij bestond zeker al in de 18e eeuw en bleef actief tot 1928. De laatste brouwer, Camille Goossens was naast brouwer ook burgemeester van het dorp.
Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog nam de Duitse bezetter het koper van de brouwerij in beslag, waaronder de brouwketels. Na een korte herstart werd de productie definitief stopgezet. Vanaf 2017 werd het verbouwd tot Hof Den Tuitelaar.
