Kunstschilder Eugène Laermans (1864-1940) had iets met Wemmel. Hij verbleef er als student, en zag een drenkeling wegdragen langs de witte muur tussen de Sint-Servaaskerk en de pastorie. Dat maakte zo’n indruk op de man dat de muur opduikt in enkele van zijn werken. Deze wandeling is een eerbetoon aan hem én een tocht langs de mooiste plekjes van de gemeente. Zoals het geklasseerde gemeentehuis, natuurgebied Beverbos en de eeuwenoude hoeves Klein Amelgem en Groot Amelgem.
