Waar de provincies Antwerpen, Limburg en Vlaams-Brabant elkaar raken, vestigden zich bijna 900 jaar geleden de Norbertijnen. Rond hun abdij ligt een imposant natuurgebied dat lange tijd in handen was van de prinsen de Merode. Onze gids Jochen Smets (44) loopt er al fluitend door. Als buurtbewoner en organisator van het Merodefestival klinken 10.000 stappen rond de abdij van Averbode hem als muziek in de oren.
