Velen is een stad in de Duitse deelstaat Noordrijn-Westfalen, gelegen in Kreis Borken. De stad telt 13.112 inwoners op een oppervlakte van 70,55 km². Naburige steden zijn onder andere Ahaus, Borken en Gescher.
Velen bestaat uit de in 1975 samengevoegde voormalige gemeentes Velen en Ramsdorf, als volgt nader onderverdeeld:
