Hordel is een stadsdeel aan de noordgrens van Bochum-Mitte naar Herne. Het werd op 1 april 1926 door de wet inzake de herziening van de gemeentelijke grenzen in de Rijnland-Westfaalse industriegebieden aan Bochum toegevoegd. Een kleiner deel werd toen aan Wattenscheid toegewezen. Bij de verkeersonderdoorgang "Am Blumenkamp" bevindt zich met 43 m boven NAP het laagste punt van Bochum.
