Wittmund is een gemeente in de Duitse deelstaat Nedersaksen, gelegen in het Landkreis Wittmund. De stad telt 20.405 inwoners.. Bevolkingsstatistieken, uitgesplitst per stadsdeel, worden niet bijgehouden.
De bodems en landschappen binnen de gemeente variëren van noord naar zuid sterk. In het noorden, waar Wittmund aan de Waddenzee grenst, overheerst laag polderland; dit gebied is in de periode tot plm. 1540 door inpoldering teruggewonnen op de Waddenzee. Hier en daar is de kleigrond geschikt voor de fabricage van bakstenen. Meer zuidelijk overheersen laagvenen, en nog zuidelijker hoogveen en meer dan 5 meter boven zeeniveau uitstekende zandgrond, in dit deel van Duitsland Geest genaamd.
