De Indemann is door zijn grootte en locatie, hoog op de Goltsteinkuppe, het verreikende zichtbare symbool voor de perspectieven die het indeland zijn bewoners biedt. Zijn moderne architectuur staat voor de technische toekomst van de regio, zijn voortdurend veranderend licht in het donker voor de structurele veranderingen in het bruinkoolgebied; zijn stabiliteit staat voor de meer dan 10.000 jaar durende geschiedenis van het indeland. Het 36 meter hoge herkenningspunt wijst met zijn arm naar het voortdurend veranderende landschap van de mijnbouw Inden. Van de talrijke uitkijkpunten heeft de kijker een uitgebreid, spectaculair uitzicht op het indeland.
