De dorpsmolen was een van de drie banmolens in Stetten. Naast de dorpsmolen bestaat alleen de Seemühle nog. De dorpsmolen werd voor het eerst genoemd in 1494. Vroeger werd deze aangeduid als de bovenste molen.
Tot 1829 behoorde de molen tot de plaatselijke heersers, totdat deze in particulier bezit overging. In 1959 werd het molenrad vervangen door een turbine. 15 jaar later werd de molenactiviteit beëindigd door het vullen van het molenkanaal. Tot 1998 werd de molen nog voor de meelhandel gebruikt. De gehele molentechniek is nog bewaard gebleven. Momenteel wordt de molen gerenoveerd.
