De Col de Peyresourde kwam in 1910 voor het eerst in de Tour de France, de etappe werd gewonnen door Octave Lapize. Tourdirecteur Jean-Marie Leblanc vond dit de moosite klim van de Tour de France. Hij vond het een mostapijt en een beklimming die geen angst wekt. En het zou je het gevoel geven om naast de schapen en de koeien te gaan liggen.
