In 2009 werden hier in het Franse dorpje Plagne, 's werelds grootste dinosaurussporen ontdekt. Sindsdien hebben een reeks opgravingen op de site andere sporen blootgelegd, die zich over meer dan 150 meter uitstrekten. Ze vormen de langste sauropod traject dat ooit gevonden werd. Deze sporen werden 150 miljoen jaar geleden achter gelaten door een minstens 35 m lange dinosaurus met een gewicht van niet minder dan 35 ton.
