Winnezele is een gemeente in de Franse Westhoek, in het Franse Noorderdepartement. De gemeente ligt in Frans-Vlaanderen in de streek van het Houtland. Winnezele grenst aan de gemeenten Herzele, Houtkerke, Oudezele, Watou en Steenvoorde. De gemeente heeft ruim 1.200 inwoners.De eerste verwijzing naar het dorp was als Winningasela en was vermeld in een brief van paus Calixtus II uit 1119, die de bezittingen van de Abdij van Broekburg erkende. De naam is een combinatie van een persoonsnaam en het achtervoegsel -sala .
