Met de fiets geraak je letterlijk tot aan de bron van de Sorgue, tenminste buiten het seizoen en gesteld dat je goed kan klimmen. Die bron ziet er trouwens afhankelijk van het seizoen helemaal anders uit. De bron is het einde van een kilometerslange ondergrondse rivier die het water van het plateau van Sault brengt. De ene keer stroomt het water mondjesmaat naar buiten. De andere keer is het een woeste watermassa.
Er wordt ook al lang onderzocht hoe diep de bron precies is. In 1879 bereikt een waaghals de diepte van 23 meter. In 1946 dook Jacques-Yves Cousteau tot 74 meter. In 1981 dook ene Touloumdjian tot een diepte van 153 meter. En in 1985 bereikte een robot de diepte van maar liefst 308 meter!
