Epoisses, waar het 12e eeuws kasteel een statig koninklijk huis werd, ontving naar men verteld vertelde koning Thierry en zijn grootmoeder koningin Brunehaut, die Regent was.
Het kasteel is tegenwoordig toegankelijk na het oversteken van de droge grachten, waar een dubbele ophaalbrug in de 17e eeuw is omgevormd tot een vaste brug.
Dit elegante kunstwerk ligt langs de straat, en geeft toegang tot de kerk, de duiventil en natuurlijk het kasteel.
