In het boek ' De Bekeerlinge' van Stefan Hertmans wordt op pagina 1 een verklaring gegeven voor de naam van de Rocher du Cire: 'De befaamde Rocher du Cire - de steile, monumentale rots waar hoog en onbereikbaar de bijen zwermen en de steen in de zomerzon soms letterlijk glimt van de honing die van de rotswand druipt - staat er nu nog ongenaakbaar en desolaat bij, massief verzonken in de ochtennevel'.
