Aberdeen is een Schotse stad gelegen in het noordoosten van de Schotse Lowlands. De stad heeft een aparte architectuur die zich onderscheidt van andere Schotse steden door het gebruik van graniet in plaats van zandsteen als bouwmateriaal. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de gebouwen slechts heel weinig onderhoud nodig hebben door de uitzonderlijke hardheid van het gesteente. Door de kleine mica mineraaltjes die in het graniet zit, krijgen de gebouwen een soort zilverachtige glans als de zon er zijn stralen op werpt. Vandaar dus de bijnaam "de zilveren stad". De wandeling neemt je mee langsheen de meest noemenswaardige bezienswaardigheden, waaronder de Salvation Army Citadel, de Town House, de Union Terrace Gardens, en nog een hele boel andere prachtige pareltjes.
