De Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art "Giuseppe Sciortino", gelegen in het voormalige benedictijnenklooster aan het Piazza Guglielmo II in Monreale, herbergt meer dan tweehonderd werken van kunstenaars uit de Italiaanse twintigste eeuw.
De tentoongestelde werken zijn het resultaat van donaties (die plaatsvonden op drie verschillende momenten, in 1986, 1997 en 2002) door Eleonora Nora Posabella, eigenaar van de galerij "Al Vantaggio" in Rome, om hulde te brengen aan de nagedachtenis van haar levenspartner, een man van cultuur en een burger van Monreale.
Onder de prachtige werken die te zien zijn, zijn meesterwerken gemaakt door toonaangevende meesters van de nationale scène, zoals Domenico Purificato, Renato Guttuso, Carlo Levi, Giorgio De Chirico, Filippo De Pisis, Fausto Pirandello, Mario Sironi, Giorgio Morandi en Luigi Bartolini.
