De Kerk van San Vito kreeg haar naam aan de oude wijk San Vito en de straat waar het zich bevindt (via San Vituzzo).
Ze bestond al in 1492 en werd volgens historicus Ignazio de Blasi van Alcamo gesticht door een lid van de Broederschap van de Annunziata, met ernaast een ziekenhuis voor arme zieken. Ze werd voor het eerst gerestaureerd in 1922. Binnenin is er niets ouds meer en tegenwoordig wordt ze gebruikt door orthodoxe christenen.
