Rechts van het Zalnépad ligt een belangrijk recreatiegebied van Zwolle, de Wijthmenerplas. 's Zomers trekt deze voormalige zandwinplas met zijn prachtige omgeving duizenden bezoekers. Mensen zwemmen hier, doen aan watersport, of genieten van de zon. Bij minder mooi weer kunt u er wandelen en heerlijk fietsen. Op de bruggetjes en langs de gedeeltelijk beboste oevers zoeken veel vissers ontspanning.
