Baarn ) is een plaats en gemeente in de Nederlandse provincie Utrecht, gelegen aan de rivier de Eem. De gemeente telt 24.870 inwoners en heeft een totale oppervlakte van 33,01 km², waarvan 32,54 km² land en 0,47 km² water . Een inwoner van Baarn wordt een Baarnaar genoemd en iemand die geboren en getogen is in Baarn een Barinees. Een Baarnaar behoeft niet in Baarn geboren of opgegroeid te zijn. Van 4 september 1948 tot 30 april 1980 was de gemeente een koninklijke residentie aangezien koningin Juliana op Paleis Soestdijk woonde, hetgeen op het grondgebied van Baarn gelegen is. De Nederlandse koning Willem-Alexander voert vanaf de troonswisseling de titel Heer van Soest, Baarn en Ter Eem. Zie Titels van de Nederlandse koninklijke familie.
