Het gemeentehuis van Baarle-Hertog is uniek in zijn soort: het staat dwars op de grens van België en Nederland. Die Nederlands-Belgische grens loopt hier wel zeer grillig in Baarle-Hertog en Baarle-Nassau. Vandaar waarschijnlijk het idee van het gebouw. Je ziet een lijn lopen op de gevel en de grens is ook als een rij bloempjes en planten aangegeven in de tuin. In het gebouw loopt de grens als een witte lijn door de kamers en zalen.
