Het gaat om de plaatsen Alblasserdam, Dordrecht, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Papendrecht, Sliedrecht, en Zwijndrecht, gelegen aan de drie rivieren Beneden-Merwede, de Noord en de Oude Maas. Het gebied betreft het zuidelijke gedeelte van de Randstad.
