Het Sittardse Stadspark dat in 1920, door tuinarchitect Versteeg, werd aangelegd op de moerassige oevers van de Geleenbeek is een prachtige natuurstrook in Sittard. Het vormt de verbinding tussen Geleen en Sittard, ook wel het Geleenbeekdal genoemd. Het is de moeite waard om het park verder in te lopen naar de ‘Stenen Sluis’ en de afsplitsing van een molentak. Deze tak loopt door het centrum van Sittard, maar is daar overkluisd.
Hij voedde o.a. de watermolen die vroeger stond ter plekke van het huidige winkelcentrum De Tempel in het centrum van Sittard. Een speciale tip in het stadspark is het Stadspeelbos Sjabolleke. Aan de Molenweg, pal naast het monumentale stadspark van Sittard, ligt dit stadspeelbos. Dit is een avontuurlijk stuk bos waar kinderen naar hartenlust kunnen klimmen en klauteren.
