De start is bij het spoorwegstationnetje van Simpelveld. Parkeren is hier gratis. Het station is in oude luister hersteld en in gebruik voor de ZLSM als toeristische attractie. De stoommachine en de Schienenbus vertrekt hier regelmatig.
De route is een mooie panorame route en loopt gedeeltelijk langs de beek en door velden en langs de spoorlijn.
