Tongerlo is a village in the Belgian province of Limburg, and a part of the municipality of Bree. It was an independent municipality until the merger of 1971 to the municipality of Opitter, which in turn was incorporated into the municipality of Bree in 1977.
Tongerlo is located in the southeast of the merged municipality. The Zuid-Willemsvaart forms the western border of the borough. Tongerlo is gradually developing from an agricultural village in the Kempen region to a residential village. Especially in the north of the borough there are still a number of farms. The Itterbeek, along which several watermills are located, flows through the village centre.
