Castle ruin Lichtenberg and Geopfad

On hiking route 27, there are numerous interesting points. Right at the beginning at the hiking car park, there is a memorial. From here, you can enjoy a great view of the northern city area. For the tour, you should pack some food, as many benches along the route invite you to take a break. After the gravelled wide forest paths, a forest path later leads uphill to the ruins of Lichtenberg Castle. For a while, the path runs parallel to the Geopfad Salzgitter-Lichtenberg, and it also passes by a mountain bike trail that is currently being planned. Towards the end of the route, you reach the grounds of Lichtenberg Castle ruins. In front of the adjacent Waldhotel Burgberg, there is stamping point No. 19 of the Nördliches Harzvorland Tourism Association. On the grounds, a supporting association offers guided tours on selected dates. The descent is via a steep path through the forest, but you can also comfortably walk back to the hiking car park via the access road.
