Dieser intensiv genutzte Platz im ältesten Teil des Stadtteils Borgerhout wird in Zukunft (im Rahmen des Ringland-Projekts) noch attraktiver, da es einen Durchgang unter der Eisenbahn geben wird und somit eine Verbindung zum Zentrum von Deurne und zum Rivierenhof geschaffen wird. In der angrenzenden Straße Wijnegemstraat 27 befindet sich die vzw Rataplan: ein kleiner Saal in einer Ecke der Stadt. Ein Saal mit einem pulsierenden Herzen für Kunst, Theater und Musik. Ein Kunstzentrum, in dem fast täglich Schauspieler und Musiker auf der Bühne stehen. Seit 15 Jahren ist Rataplan der Startblock und die Basis für junge Bühnenkünstler.
