Stadt Gernrode ist ein Ortsteil von Quedlinburg im nordöstlichen Rand des Harzes im Landkreis Harz in Sachsen-Anhalt. 961 wurde Gernrode erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und erhielt im Jahr 1539 das Recht, Wappen und Siegel zu führen, was häufig mit einer Stadtrechtsverleihung gleichgesetzt wird. Der Ort war fast 700 Jahre lang der Sitz des erst geistlichen, nach der Reformation freiweltlichen Damenstifts Gernrode.
In der Altstadt mit ihren verwinkelten Straßen befinden sich viele Gebäude aus verschiedenen Jahrhunderten der Stadtgeschichte. Am kleinen Markt liegt das Rathaus Gernrode aus der Zeit des Historismus, westlich davon der romanische Turm der ehemaligen Marktkirche St. Stephanus, sowie die bekannteste Sehenswürdigkeit, die romanische Stiftskirche St. Cyriacus. Die Stiftskirche St. Cyriacus befindet sich an der Südroute der Straße der Romanik.
