You hardly ever see the reed bunting because they are well hidden in the reeds. Here you have the best chance of spotting one: They look a bit like a striped sparrow. Males have black head stripes, females have brown and white ones. They grow to a size of about 15 centimeters. During the breeding season, singing males are recognizable by their black head, white collar and white mustache stripe.
