The Fire

The rural area around De Brand is located in the border region of the municipalities of Bree, Kinrooi, and Maaseik. To the north, the Itter or Tongerlo stream runs as a central axis through the area. In fact, it divides the area into a northern part, belonging to De Basdonk (Bree) and De Simpel (Kinrooi), and a southern part that coincides with De Brand (Maaseik). To the east, the landscape is bordered by the Kinrooiersteenweg (N757). To the south, it connects to the village center of Neeroeteren. To the west in Tongerlo, there are two watermills on the Itter: the Keyaertmolen and Galdermansmolen. The road network in the area is limited, and housing is almost nonexistent.
